I’ve only been working with Jim for almost 3 months now, but honestly, not once have I regretted it. You know how people complain about their bosses and say, “ugh, my job is the worst”? Yeah… I can’t really join that club. Working with Jim is actually fun. And like May said, his LAUGH… oh my god. We never know if it’s the “I’m in trouble” laugh or a genuine laugh, which just adds to the suspense.

One of my favorite things is our weekly “wins” check-in, where we share personal and professional wins. At first, I thought it was just another meeting thing, but weirdly enough it pushed me to actually do stuff so I’d have something to share. Sometimes I sit there scrambling like “uhh… do I have a win?” but honestly, it’s made me more intentional and productive, so that’s a big plus.

But the best thing about Jim is how he leads. He’s not arrogant, not the “I’m the boss, do as I say” type. He treats us like we’re all on the same team. All in all, I’ve learned nothing but good things working with him. My skills have improved so much in such a short time.

Working with Jim doesn’t feel like just another workday – it’s actually fun. And not fake-fun like “we have a ping pong table” fun. It’s the kind where you laugh, compete a little, grow a lot, and somehow even enjoy the stressful parts. His sense of humor is next-level – dry, quick, occasionally dark (okay, very dark sometimes 😂), but always perfectly timed to cut the tension and remind you we’re all human.

What really sets Jim apart, though, is how open he is. Like, genuinely open. He wants feedback – not just to say he listens, but to actually become a better leader for the team. No ego, no defensiveness. Just real talk, real growth. And that makes it feel safe to be honest right back.

You’re allowed to say how you feel. You’re encouraged to figure things out – but if you hit a wall and ask for help, he’s right there, no judgment. One time or (multiple times actually😂), I completely misunderstood a task and went in the totally wrong direction. I expected a lecture. Instead, Jim literally just laughed (that dark laugh 😅), and then walked me through how to get it back on track. Not a single ounce of shame – just support and jokes.

That’s the thing about Jim. He leads with humor, empathy, and this genuine desire to help people grow. And because of that, being on his team doesn’t just make you better at your job – it makes you better, period.
